Introducing new Royal Canin Feline Wet

New Royal Canin Feline Health Nutrition Wet Cat FoodA unique patented nutritional breakthrough – the discovery of the Macro Nutrient Profile – is behind Royal Canin’s latest launch, the innovative new Feline Health Nutrition Wet Cat range. Comprising six products in total, for cats at all lifestages, there is a choice of mousse or chunks in gravy, depending on the product.

The range will be available in the UK from January 2009, and means that all cats can now be offered the long-established Royal Canin benefits in moist form, a format many owners are very comfortable with.

Geraldine Jacquier from Royal Canin says: “The Macro Nutrient Profile (or MNP) is what drives a cat to select the best possible balance of nutrients for its current health status, and what this actually means is long-term palatability – possibly the Holy Grail in terms of cat food!

“The specific MNP varies according to the cat’s age and its’ physiological condition, but cats will instinctively recognize and prefer the most suitable food for their own MNP.

“We know that six out of 10 owners regularly mix wet and dry food. With this range, we are giving cat owners a truly unique opportunity – a wet range based not on flavours or gimmicks, but on what’s best for the cat, which it will instinctively and continually prefer, and which will also enable them to provide variety of textures if that’s what their cats prefer.

The Feline Health Nutrition Wet Cat range consists of Babycat Instinctive, a mousse food for young kittens, plus tender chunks in gravy for older animals - Kitten Instinctive for kittens from - four to 12 months, Instinctive for adult cats over one year, Ultra Light for adult cats prone to weight gain, Intense Beauty for adult cats to boost skin or coat health, and Oral Mature for cats over 10 years with sensitive teeth or gums. Packaging is either alutray or pouches, depending on variety, and is designed to be easy to use either as a single serving or for portioning out over several meals. The range can be fed as the sole food, or can be mixed with Royal Canin kibbles from the appropriate range, with portions adjusted as appropriate and according to on-pack advice.

Royal Canin’s taste trials have shown that cats have a strong instinctive preference for the Feline Health Nutrition Wet Cat range, because the balance of nutrients suited their individual Macro Nutrient Profiles leading them to choose the right food for themselves.

Historically founded on kibbles, Royal Canin has spent over 40 years perfecting its nutritional knowledge, and as Geraldine Jacquier says: “Nutrition is one of the fastest moving sciences in the world, and with every step forward in knowledge a new breakthrough is made. Dry food, which we have pioneered in so many different areas – kibble technology in particular – remains a founding stone of the health nutrition arena for pets, but the launch of the Wet Cat range means we can now bring our expertise to cat owners who may not have previously considered us. That’s got to be good for the UK’s cats.”
